Couple of Good Deals
Everyone knows I’m a fan of CablesandKits, and I happened across this deal from them, so I thought I would share it. This is 1U rack mount APC PDUs for $10 each!
I also saw that BalticNetworks is running some good deals on their gear – RB1000 for $595, RB750 for $35. I’ve not ordered from these guys, but I met them at the MUM and the owner is quite a clever fellow…heh.
I’m also digging the KamFab enclosures they are selling…pre drilled and marked for many MTKs.
You just love CablesandKits because they send you candy. Admit it.
I love CAK because they are bringing cheap Cisco gear to the masses…and…they give you candy…mostly the first thing, though.
You’ll have to convince me that cisco is worth the “cost to feature” price when I can get a mikrotik for a heck of a lot less 😛
(Forgive my bias, I know there are places that mikrotik haven’t gone yet and things they could improve on but I still favour them over cisco as the core router in all of our distributions)
Oh and don’t get me started on the Cisco 880 series. What a waste of time and money… 😛
On top of that it looks like I’ll be getting 5 x RB1000s from baltic.. our local supplier is out of stock until end of this month!
So you can tell them you’ve bought them a new customer, hopefully they’ll give you some candy too!
I would and will keep my cisco gear as the routing core 😛 They are ROCK solid and pretty cheap these days. As a core a fully loaded 6509 is the cock of the walk. I get more density and reliability than I ever could with MTK. Also, MTK doesn’t make switches! I can get rock bottom switch prices from CAK.
One more thing…IPSEC + Cisco = heaven. IPSEC + MTK = acceptable at best. MTK to MTK is great, but vender interoperability is lacking as is dynamic IPSec routing. They are getting there, though 🙂
Ha! Hopefully they will do you right, which I believe they will. Let me know how they do.
Just ordered a 750 from Baltic, I will let you know how fast it gets here.
I love the KamFab enclosures. Great with Rb433 or 411 cards.
Randy,
Thanks for posting! The KamFabs look great, but until you get an industry opinion, you never really know. 🙂
