Mikrotik Newsletter 29

The PDF can be found here.

PCQ Rewrite:

  • Bursting added
  • IPV6 support
  • Address masks for src and dst
  • I’m trying to think of how the masks would be useful. I can envision connections to a group of web servers all sharing a rate limit. Though you could just do that with a mangle rule.

    SwOS 1.3
    *) added ability to specify ethernet ports from
    which it is allowed to connect to the switch;
    *) fixed problem – reboot sometimes made switch unresponsive;
    *) fixed problem – Hosts table were not shown sometimes;
    *) fixed problem – sometimes it didn’t respond to ARP requests
    or responded with big packets;
    *) fixed problem – remote web interface didn’t work well over VLANs;

    USB LCD Support

  • Crystalfontz 631; 633; 635
  • UPS

  • Added some additional APC UPS support
  • Software made for Mikrotik
    Right now there is just a couple of crummy iPhone apps 😛

    Tips
    It looks like they are now starting a new section in the newsletter “Hidden Features”. They will be showcasing lesser known features. This time around they are doing SNMP write. A cool tip they show you is how to run a script via a SNMP write command.

      Has anyone actually had any experience with the new LCD devices listed?
      Crystalfontz 631; 633; 635…?
      I’m assuming they are for the X86 boxes, which I have one running and would like to put one of these devices on it.

      Thanks..
