Rigging A Mikropoynt For Omni 2.4 and 5.8

I wanted to have my laptop AP directional, hense the mikropoynt, but I also wanted my little omni that is 2.4 and 5.8. So, I drilled a hole in the bottom and mounted the extra antenna. I then hooked the extra antenna to the side B connection on the wireless card. If I want to switch to the omni, I can just select the B antenna in the wireless interface settings.

WwwwwwWWWeeeEEEEEEeeeeeeeeee 😉

Did you have to drill the hole for the omni, or was it a knock out.

You could also use the 5.8 GHz version of the Mikropoynt antenna for the link, Use a RB411AR, add a second card for 2.4, and then use the omni for a Hot Spot.. Neat little package, eh?

I did have to drill a hole. There is no provision for it.

I thought about the hotspot option, but I would use an outdoor connector with an outdoor omni…of course 😉
